Nature Walk
There is a nature walk at the Lodge through spectacular virgin rainforest where you can see our ancient Hope’s Cycad (Listed in the National Register of Big Trees) estimated to be at least 15m high and at least 1000 years old.
Boardwalks
There are 3 boardwalks (Jindalba, Maardja & Dubuji) each offering different chances of animal encounters and environments in the vicinity of the lodge.
Beaches
Along Cape Tribulation Rd, the main road from north to south are numerous unspoilt idyllic coconut-lined tropical sand beaches. Cow Bay Beach is our closest and had a lovely rope swing on one of the coconut trees for your acrobatic enjoyment and Cape Tribulation being the furthest south before the Bloomfield Track.
Hiking
Mt. Sorrow Trail is the only serious hike in the Daintree. It is for confident and experienced hikers only and takes 7 hours return. You cannot start after 8AM, as it is too risky in the heat of the afternoon and impossible to navigate after dark. This hike is similar to parts of the Kokoda track and water, snacks, lunch and first aid kits are required. You are required to log your hike with management if you intend to attempt the Mt. Sorrow trail. Past managers and the owner have ventured up the gruelling trail.
There is also a short and easy 30min return walk to Emmagen Creek swimming hole. There are few other safe places to swim in the Daintree lowlands and this is a popular walk visited by many tour groups and other tourists. Walk along the creek for about 400m until you reach the large tree and the deep swimming hole.
