A Journey Through the Daintree
From Ancient Trees to Unforgettable Wildlife
Once you cross the Daintree River by ferry, you will be immediately brought back to another era and time. The confusion and stress of the bustling city are left behind, and you are greeted by our ancient trees, some of which have existed for over a thousand years. Whatever you choose you do or not to do, you can be assured that everything on offer in this region is small and personalised—a true escape to unwind and discover our tropical environment.
The Daintree Discovery Centre
After crossing the Daintree River, one of the first attractions is the Daintree Discovery Centre, a must for all guests. The centre has a 23 metre Rainforest Canopy Tower which allows for a stunning view of the region and an intimate look into the wildlife of the higher rainforest canopy. The aerial walkway and boardwalks meander through the property providing interesting information about the history, flora and fauna of the Daintree Rainforest. Each ticket comes with a 7-day return pass so that you can return at your leisure during your stay with us.
For those adventure-seeking guests, there are activities to satiate all adrenaline junkie appetites. Whether you want to join a horse riding tour that leads you through the rainforest and onto a palm-lined beach or jump on board a 25-passenger boat to snorkel around the Great Barrier Reef, adventure awaits you.
Explore the Daintree National Park
Where we are situated in the Cape Tribulation section of the Daintree National Park stretches from the Daintree River to the south and the Bloomfield River to the North. To the west of us is the McDowall Range, and to the east, the Coral Sea and the Great Barrier Reef. The Daintree National Parks has provided walks of various lengths and for multiple levels of experience. Those willing to take the extra challenge could attempt the 5- 7 hour return journey on the Mount Sorrow Ridge Trail. Captain Cook named them after the Endeavour fell into difficulties in Cape Tribulation. Not for the inexperience but, as the National Park described, for the fit, self-reliant and well-prepared walkers.
Follow in Sir David Attenborough’s Footsteps
What made Sir David Attenborough describe the Daintree Rainforest as “the most extraordinary place on earth” when he visited? It could be that it’s the most biologically diverse rainforest with intriguing wildlife or the activity found along the Daintree River and its mangroves. Guests can attempt to follow in Sir David’s footsteps by joining one of the many day or night rainforest walking tours, joining a reforestation program or a wildlife photography workshop. Otherwise, if one prefers, swing into one of the many natural swimming holes and soak up all the surrounding beauty.
Cultural Adventures
This rainforest is also rich in history and tradition, and joining experienced guides to explore this Kuku Yalanji country is another unforgettable experience. There are wonderful, Indigenous-owned and operated companies that provide a genuine unforgettable cultural adventure.
Enjoy a Wildlife Cruise
If these activities are too adventurous, let the wildlife come to you. On the many crocodile and wildlife cruises, guests can relax whilst the boat captain leads you to this region’s diverse wildlife.
With the region’s wealth of ecological and geographical diversity, there is abundant beauty and just as many activities to keep you occupied.
